The others that I would change too are for turning off auto-updates and the monitoring:ĩ) Lastly, you can open up your Scheduled Tasks or whatever it's called in your Operating Systems version of Control Panel, and make sure Show Hidden Tasks is on then delete the Crap Cleaner auto update entry. I don't feel like following through with testing this, since the Reddit here appears to have abandoned CCleaner anyway.Ĩ) You can adjust other preferences that are helpful, but these were the HIDDEN ones. I don't know if you can get those config (Cfg) tweaks to work using the Ini file, I'd try by adding them just how everything else is written, without quotes, but include the (Cfg) still. If you installed CCleaner open notepad and paste the following:ĥ) Go to "Save as" and put CCleaner.reg as the filename and then in the "Save as type" change it to "All files" and then save the file wherever it's easy to find for you.Ħ) Find the file you just created, double-click it, it'll install these registry keys.ħ) If you are using the portable version find the ".ini" file inside CCleaner's directory and add or modify "CheckTrialOffer" without quotes.Don't launch CCleaner when the installer asks.Adjust the installer checkboxes as appropriate. Run the installer or extract the portable file. ![]() You can use the regular installer if you want, but these are smaller and don't include the checkboxes for "do you want to also install chrome browser / avast anti-virus" type of stuff. Download either the "Slim" or "Portable" version. You can use the latest version (5.60 at the time of this post.). So with that logic I'm guessing the "GetIpmForTrial" is probably related to the "Summer Sale" pop-up and changing it to 0 will eliminate it, or it just removes some other phoning home.Īfter more testing it looks like it's pretty easy to customize CCLeaner and fix everyone's issues. there's a pop-up and a hint with a hyperlink you can click on during the Quick Clean when you use it, plus in order to update any drivers with the Software Updater you need to transfer data. My best guess is that the three "Ipm" settings may stands for "Internet Page Menu" perhaps? Since the SoftwareUpdater and QuickClean both have an IPM I'm guessing these must be phoning home to Piriform because these options require internet assistance to complete. The same goes for "SoftwareUpdater" it removes the tab so that you can't accidentally click on it and scan your PC! It's very cool as this removes the clutter. If you change "QuickClean" to 0 it removes the entire button from within CCleaner. TLDR: I've changed all 5 settings to "0" and have not noticed any negative consequences, only positive results! So if by altering these in a proper manner perhaps I can remove and/or disable those too. I originally was looking to see if there was a simple way to turn off the stupid "summer sale" pop-up by changing a hidden setting from 1 to 0 but now I'm interested in figuring these out too, because Quick Clean and Software Updater are stupid and shouldn't be in the program to begin with - just more bloatware. ![]() I'm not sure what "IPM" stands for, nor exactly what these settings are responsible for. Otherwise in the install version they'll be in the registry under this key: If you use the save to Ini setting or the portable version the settings will be there. I'm curious to see if someone can help figure out what they do. I don't know in what version these first appeared (5.60 for this post) but there are new Registry and Ini settings that do not appear anywhere at all on the internet. ![]() If you find additional settings that help, please let me know! I haven't seen this info posted anywhere else before, this may be the first place. If you're looking for info about the latest version of CCleaner because you want to continue using it, but would prefer to get rid of all the monitoring, phoning-home, and ads then read on.
